Azerbaijani ambassador met with Deputy Taliban FM

Azerbaijan's ambassador to Afghanistan Ilham Mammadov met with Taliban deputy foreign minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, APA reports.

During the meeting, the deputy minister underlined that Afghanistan is trying to develop its economic situation, is pursuing a balanced and economically oriented policy, and is interested in good relations with all countries.

Ambassador Ilham Mammadov highly appreciated the efforts in the area of providing security, economic developnment and the fight against drugs. In addition, he said that Azerbaijan is ready to collaborate with Afghanistan in this regard, as well as in cultural, economic and trade fields.

It should be noted that on January 13, 2021, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the law on the establishment of the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Afghanistan. On February 15, 2024, Ambassador Ilham Mammadov met with Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and presented the official letter in connection with the opening of the embassy in Kabul.
