“Azerbaijan Women’s Republican Society” has addressed an appeal regarding the manifestations of discrimination against Azerbaijanis, APA reports.

The appeal reads:

"Dear Ladies,

We, the Public Association “Azerbaijan Women’s Republican Society” (AWRS), with a history spanning 105 years and over 75,000 members, express our deep concern regarding the recent manifestations of chauvinistic rhetoric and discrimination against Azerbaijanis in Russia.

The painful pages of history from the tragic events of January 20, 1990, the biased stance of Russia during the Karabakh conflict, as well as the recent tragic plane crash and the related prejudiced and unfair assessments widely disseminated in Russian media and public circles — demonstrate that systemic chauvinism towards the Azerbaijani people remains an ongoing issue.

The Azerbaijani state and society stand as a model of multiculturalism and tolerance. People of diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds live peacefully, safely, and with equal rights in Azerbaijan. It is no coincidence that international organizations such as UNESCO, the United Nations, and the Council of Europe have repeatedly recognized the Baku Process  an international platform established to promote multiculturalism, interreligious and intercultural dialogue  along with the Multiculturalism Forum and initiatives fostering interfaith dialogue.

In today’s world, confronted with global ecological, humanitarian, and geopolitical crises, when humanity needs understanding and unity more than ever, the propagation of hateful rhetoric and discrimination against Azerbaijanis damages not only regional stability but also international women’s solidarity.

We, the women of AWRS P.A., have always been pillars in defending human rights, peace, and mutual respect within our societies. Today, we face the imperative to take a united stance against calls promoting chauvinism and national discrimination as an expression of women’s solidarity and a defense of universal humanitarian values.

We, Azerbaijani women, declare with political will and determination:

Any pressure, insult, or discrimination against the Azerbaijani people, especially women and children, is absolutely unacceptable!

Where principles of interethnic justice and equality are not respected, peace and stability are impossible!

Those who propagate chauvinistic rhetoric and enmity discredit themselves on the international stage and will be held accountable!

We, women, have always taken an active and resolute position in defending our rights and promoting justice among peoples!

We call upon the Union of Women of Russia (Союз женщин России), the Women’s Movement for Peace and Concord (Женское движение за мир и согласие), the Nasiliyu.net Foundation (Фонд «Насилию.нет»), the All-Russian Mother’s Committee (Всероссийский материнский комитет), and other progressive women’s organizations not to remain indifferent, to take an official stance, and to condemn the rhetoric of hatred against our people, especially Azerbaijani women and children.

We are confident that international women’s solidarity, based on the principles of peace, coexistence, and humanism, will raise its voice even louder in these challenging times."
