On March 6, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela held the first consular consultations via video conference, APA reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
In the consultations, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while the Venezuelan delegation was led by Maria Rafaela Suarez Hernandez, the Director General of the Consular Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Ruslan Rzayev, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and Christopher Martinez, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Azerbaijan, also attended the meeting.
The participants discussed the current state of consular cooperation between Azerbaijan and Venezuela, explored prospects for its development, and considered opportunities to expand the bilateral legal framework in this field.
They also emphasized the importance of exchanging best practices in digital consular services.
Additionally, they revised cooperation in migration, labor, social protection, and other areas.
