Azerbaijan and Ukraine discussed future cooperation in the field of mine clearance, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga that he informed his counterpart about the post-conflict situation in the region after Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty, in particular the efforts made to return hundreds of thousands of former internally displaced persons to their native lands, APA reports.
"We also discussed the measures taken to clear the territories of mines, as the presence of mines remains a serious obstacle to the return of the population," the minister said.
Andriy Sibiga noted that he discussed cooperation with his Azerbaijani counterpart in the field of mine clearance: "Azerbaijan has experience in this field. We will request and want the support of the world in this regard."
