On September 2, the next consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan were held in Ashgabat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
According to the information, the Azerbaijani delegation at the consultations was headed by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Turkmen delegation was headed by Dovletmyrat Muratov, Head of the Consular Services Department.
Officials from Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Migration Service and Prosecutor General’s Office, as well as an official from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and employees of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Turkmenistan, attended the meeting.
During the consular consultations, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the two countries in the consular sphere.
The delegations discussed the protection of the rights and interests of citizens of the two countries, including the simplification of the visa regimes in place.
Issues of cooperation between the two countries in internal affairs, citizenship, migration, justice, education and other important areas were reviewed.
At the end of the talks, the heads of the delegations of the two countries signed the protocol of the meeting, and it was agreed that the next round of consultations would be held in Baku next year.
