Last year, a list was prepared regarding the valuable cultural heritage examples stolen during the period of occupation of Azerbaijan's territories by Armenia and was submitted to UNESCO, this was reflected in Cabinet of Ministers' report for 2024, APA reports.
It was noted that the nomination file for including the documentary heritage of Azerbaijani composer, publicist, and public figure Uzeyir Hajibeyli in the International Register of the Memory of the World has been submitted to UNESCO. Additionally, a project related to the initiative to protect endangered documentary heritage under UNESCO’s Memory of the World Program has been prepared and sent to UNESCO.
In 2024, in order to be displayed in UNESCO’s Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects, a list of valuable cultural heritage examples stolen during Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani territories was prepared and submitted to UNESCO.
During the reporting year, the Director-General of UNESCO proposed sending a technical mission to the territories of Azerbaijan that were subjected to Armenia’s occupation. Azerbaijan’s stance on organizing the UNESCO technical mission has been regularly voiced in official meetings, events, and relevant UNESCO sessions.
