The first batch of the humanitarian aid cargo consisting of overhead power line equipment from the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ukraine was sent today from the territory of the Sumgayit Technologies Park, press secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Jahit Mikailov told APA.
He reminded that in accordance with the relevant order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the shipment of the cargo is carried out by the Ministry of Energy: “The humanitarian cargo includes a total of 90 kilometers of electrical cables and materials, as well as 25 generators and 7 support transformers. The purpose of sending the equipment is to support the restoration of electricity supply to the areas affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. The first convoy consisting of 10 trucks is being sent today and is expected to reach Ukraine in about 2 weeks.”
The press secretary said that the next part of the equipment, organized upon the request of the Ukrainian side and worth a total of 2 million US dollars, will be sent in 9 additional trucks in the upcoming days: "It should be noted that the equipment was manufactured in Azerbaijan. Before that, the Azerbaijani side sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine related to electricity supply. Thus, within the framework of the relevant orders signed in 2023 and February 2025, funds in the amount of 7 million, 16 million and 1 million US dollars were allocated, respectively. The total amount of humanitarian aid provided by Azerbaijan to Ukraine in connection with the war exceeded 44 million US dollars."
