Azerbaijan poised to play greater role in regional economic cooperation, says SIIS president

Azerbaijan is of particular importance due to its location, both geographically and strategically, said Chen Dongxiao, President of the Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS), in response to a question from journalists about the Zangezur corridor, APA reports.

According to him, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani government attach great importance to the development of regional relations, including the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, as well as the integration of these projects with the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.

He stressed that he believes that the combination of all favorable factors will allow Azerbaijan to play a greater and more constructive role in regional economic cooperation: "The free flow of market factors, capital and services, as well as investments in the country, will make a significant contribution to the future development of Azerbaijan."

Chen Dongxiao expressed his high appreciation for President Ilham Aliyev's visit to China.
