Azerbaijan is participating in the “Global Sustainable Development” congress in Istanbul, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports.
More than 5,000 representatives from nearly 100 countries around the world are taking part in the congress organized by the global ranking agency “Times Higher Education.”
Azerbaijan is represented at the event by a delegation led by the Minister of Science and Education, Emin Amrullayev, including the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, the heads of leading higher education institutions, and the “Azerbaijan pavilion.”
The Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, participating as a keynote speaker at the panel under the theme “From the Global Summit to National Strategy – Application of COP29 Principles in Higher Education,” by speeaking about the work carried out to promote sustainable development in the activities of our higher education institutions, emphasized the great importance of integrating quality education on combating climate change into all levels.
He touched upon issues such as supporting climate research, developing green skills, establishing global partnerships in the relevant field, and increasing international visibility.
The Minister also recalled that the role of science and education in combating climate change is significant and that climate topics have been included in Azerbaijan’s educational programs from the secondary education level to higher education programs.
