Azerbaijan offers transit opportunities to EECO member countries, Prime Minister says

The East-West and North-South transport corridors pass through Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, APA reports.

The Prime Minister underlined that cargo transportation through the territory of Azerbaijan is growing at a steady pace, and last year the volume of transit transportation increased by 8%: "Considering the dynamics of cargo growth, we are taking active steps to expand the capabilities of transport corridors. Work is regularly being carried out to improve the railway, highway, and port infrastructure in Azerbaijan. We are willing to offer these capabilities to our partners in the Eurasian Economic Cooperation Organization."

Ali Asadov also highlighted that last year, trade turnover between the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Cooperation Organization and Azerbaijan increased by more than 14 percent.
