“We are in regular contact with our embassy regarding the recent incidents that occurred in Mexico,” Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists, APA reports.
The minister noted that no information has been received about any appeals from Azerbaijani citizens.
“The embassy remains operational. We have also witnessed statements by the Mexican authorities regarding the normalization of the situation,” he said.
It should be noted that Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” the leader of one of Mexico’s largest criminal groups, the Jalisco New Generation cartel, has been killed in a military operation.
Following the operation, members of the group set fire to numerous vehicles in Jalisco and other states.
Clashes occurred between security forces and cartel members.
