"Azerbaijan is a strong state that supports colonies and keeps this issue on the agenda," said Carlyle Corbin, UN expert during the presentation of the report titled "The Evolution of French Colonialism: Political and Constitutional Analysis" held within the framework of the II Shusha Global Media Forum, APA's correspondent dispatched to Shusha reports.
"Although the adoption of certain decisions in connection with the struggle against colonial policy is a positive thing, their execution is pivotal. Unfortunately, big countries continue to control these matters. Although issues related to colonies are discussed in the relevant structures of the UN, information in this area is extremely low. Small areas, small islands, unfortunately, are located in very sensitive areas, so they cannot have strong ties. In this context, the UN should increase its initiatives and publicize the problems of the colonies using various means. You know that the natural resources of the colonial territories are plundered, their opportunities are taken away. In this regard, Azerbaijan is a strong partner for bringing their voice to the international community. All colonies should know that there are ample opportunities for their salvation from the present situation. They must be sure that no matter what happens, their firm and righteous position will always be supported. We would like other regions to support the struggle of the colonies. But there are colonial countries that do not object to living in these conditions," he concluded.
