“One of our key national priorities is the reconstruction and rehabilitation of territories that were under occupation for 30 years,” said Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during a joint press conference with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas, APA reports.
The minister stated that he had provided his counterpart with detailed information on the matter today: “The mine problem, which is part of the process, poses the greatest challenge. We are allocating significant resources in this direction. However, the scale of the problem is so vast that, even after five years, we will still have to continue combating it for many more years. Since November 2020, nearly 400 people have fallen victim to landmines. There is cooperation with the EU in this area. Expanding this cooperation and implementing larger-scale projects with the EU is in our country's interest. I hope that special attention will be given to this in the coming years.”
