We have ensured security and stability in the region. Armenia can be part of comprehensive discussions and corridors, said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, during the “The Middle Corridor: A New Geopolitical and Economic Lifeline?” panel held within the framework of the “GLOBSEC Forum 2025” in Prague, APA reports.
He also drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan ensures security in the region. H. Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan has expectations from this country.
“When the territories of Azerbaijan were under occupation, we considered relations only within the framework of the conflict resolution process. At a time when the conflict is resolved, we believe that one of the important components of the East-West transport corridor is the rule of security and stability in the country. This is necessary for the full-scale and effective functioning of that corridor. We have ensured security and stability in the region. Armenia can be an integral part of the comprehensive discussions and corridors held in the region. This is possible. Of course, we also have expectations from Armenia. For 30 years, Armenia has kept Nakhchivan under blockade. Now we expect them to take the first important step, namely, a step regarding the Zangezur corridor. The phrase “corridor” irritates my colleagues in Armenia. Let them call it what they want. But first of all, we want a connection to Nakhchivan, because for 30 years we have been deprived of this opportunity. Once the connection to Nakhchivan is established, I think other opportunities may open up for Armenia. We also want to see Armenia as part of regional transport."
