In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, within the framework of humanitarian assistance activities as a donor partner of the Republic of Azerbaijan, large-scale events were held in various countries during the month of Ramadan this year with the support of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA), including a number of humanitarian actions, iftar tables, and aid campaigns listed below, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
Iftar tables were organized and food packages were distributed in districts around Damascus, the capital of Syria.
It was noted that food packages were delivered to 150 families in refugee camps in Afghanistan, as well as to orphaned children at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia:
"In addition, iftar gatherings were organized at the 'Sunday' Thalassemia Center in Pakistan, at the 'Khalid ibn Walid' Mosque located in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, as well as in Gambia and Guinea-Bissau.
The mentioned events, implemented in close coordination with our diplomatic missions in the respective countries, are primarily aimed at supporting low-income population groups in Muslim countries and societies where Muslims constitute the majority.
These initiatives, covering the geography of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, also reflect our country’s commitment to high moral values, principles of humanism, and centuries-old traditions of multiculturalism."
