On April 30, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Jin-Hyun Paik, a candidate of the Republic of Korea for the position of judge at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on activities within international organizations, including issues related to the upcoming ICJ judge elections.
Jin-Hyun Paik provided detailed information about his professional activities, experience in the field of international law, and the priorities he plans to advance at the ICJ.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance Azerbaijan attaches to the supremacy of international law, multilateral cooperation, and strengthening the role of international judicial institutions. In this context, it was noted that Azerbaijan approaches the ICJ judge elections comprehensively and carefully reviews the professional qualities of candidates.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on regional security issues, including the current situation in the South Caucasus.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the measures implemented by Azerbaijan to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region in the post-conflict period.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
