A delegation led by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev is on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnam’s Prosecutor General Nguyen Tien, APA reports.
On March 24, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong received the delegation.
During the meeting, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev conveyed the greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the President of the country. In response, President Luong Cuong asked to convey his greetings to the President of Azerbaijan.
The meeting emphasized that the foundation of friendly relations between the two countries dates back to 1959, when Vietnam's first President Ho Chi Minh visited Azerbaijan, and to 1983, when National Leader Heydar Aliyev visited Vietnam as the First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers. It was noted that during the Soviet period, around 5,000 Vietnamese students were educated in Azerbaijan.
During a bilateral meeting at the Supreme People's Procuracy, Vietnam’s Prosecutor General Nguyen Tien expressed satisfaction with the growing partnership between the two countries and positively assessed the expanding cooperation between their prosecution bodies.
Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev highlighted that cooperation in all areas is successfully developing thanks to the political will of both countries’ leaders.
The parties discussed enhancing cooperation in the legal field, improving the efficiency of joint activities in bilateral and multilateral formats, and strengthening collaboration within international organizations.
At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Prosecutor Generals of Azerbaijan and Vietnam to further intensify legal cooperation.
