On January 12, 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov received a delegation led by Carl Kress, Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Eurasia at the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

The meeting discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in areas such as energy, trade, regional connectivity—including the TRIPP route—and economic investment. The sides also exchanged views on familiarizing representatives of the U.S. private sector with Azerbaijan’s relevant infrastructure and logistics capabilities, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation.

The participants positively assessed the bilateral contacts and discussions held separately in the aforementioned areas toward the preparation of a Strategic Partnership Charter following the Washington Peace Summit on August 8 last year.

In addition, the meeting featured an exchange of views on Azerbaijan’s important role in regional energy security, the significance of developing renewable energy resources, the diversification of trade routes along the Middle Corridor, as well as the favorable business and investment climate in Azerbaijan and opportunities for establishing new partnerships.
