Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana-Silvia Toiu held a phone conversation with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told APA.
The sides discussed the current security situation in the region, particularly the risks arising amid rising tensions in the Middle East. In this context, the Romanian side was informed about the drone attack carried out from Iranian territory against Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It was noted that the attacks caused damage to civilian infrastructure and injured civilians.
The Romanian minister condemned the attack and expressed concern, emphasizing that such actions pose a serious threat to stability and security in the region.
During the phone conversation, the sides also discussed issues on the agenda of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania, including energy security, transport and connectivity projects, as well as other areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation of mutual interest.
