Azerbaijan and Oman discuss consular cooperation
The first consular consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and the Sultanate of Oman were held via video conference on May 19, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Omani delegation was headed by Mohammed Bin Nasir Al-Mabsali, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affair of the Sultanate of Oman.
Bilateral legal framework expansion discussed
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Rashad Ismayilov, along with senior representatives from both foreign ministries and officials from Azerbaijan’s Ministries of Justice, Internal Affairs, Science and Education, and Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan also attended the meeting.
During the consultations, the sides discussed prospects for developing cooperation in consular affairs and reviewed opportunities to expand the bilateral legal and contractual framework in this area.
Focus on consular support for citizens
Discussions also addressed the effective provision of consular assistance to citizens of both countries.
Experience exchange on digitalization of consular services
The sides exchanged experience in applying digital technologies to consular services and emphasized the significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in this field.
Wider cooperation in justice, education, and social protection
In addition, the meeting covered cooperation in justice, internal affairs, education, labor, social protection, and other relevant areas.
