Azerbaijan and Montenegro hold political consultations -PHOTO

On April 3, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ceyhun Bayramov, met with Periša Kastratović, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, APA reports, citing MFA.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-Montenegro cooperation, opportunities for the development of bilateral and multilateral relations, as well as the regional and international situation, were discussed.

In terms of developing bilateral cooperation and utilizing existing potential, the importance of mutual visits and contacts, including the use of political consultation mechanisms, as well as parliamentary relations, was emphasized.

It was noted that there is a favorable environment for further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Montenegro, especially in the areas of economy, trade, energy security, tourism, and humanitarian fields. The importance of expanding partnership in the field of green energy was also highlighted.

Minister Ceyhun Bayramov also informed his counterpart about the current situation and realities in the post-conflict period, large-scale reconstruction and restoration works in the liberated territories, and the ongoing efforts to combat the threat posed by mines, which endanger the lives and health of citizens on an almost daily basis.

The counterpart was also briefed on the current status of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization and peace process. It was emphasized that, as a result of bilateral negotiations initiated by Azerbaijan, the text of the peace treaty has been agreed upon, but significant obstacles remain for the signing of the treaty, particularly the territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenia's constitution.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest.

On the same day, political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Montenegro. The consultations were led by Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov and Montenegro's State Secretary Periša Kastratović.
