The meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister Mihai Popșoi first took place in a one-on-one format and later continued in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from both sides.
During the meeting, the sides discussed regional security issues, the Russia–Ukraine war, and the situation in the Middle East.
It was emphasized that the increasing military escalation in the Middle East is causing serious concern. It was also reiterated that the drone attacks carried out by Iran on March 5, 2026, toward Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which damaged civilian facilities, including the airport terminal and a school building, and resulted in injuries among civilians, are unacceptable.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed his counterpart about the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as reconstruction and restoration efforts in the liberated territories and the return of former internally displaced persons.
Following the meetings, a joint press conference was held, where the ministers delivered statements on the outcomes of the talks and answered journalists’ questions.
