Azerbaijan and Hungary hold political consultations

On October 14, 2025, the first meeting of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Hungary was held in Budapest, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.

The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, and the delegation of Hungary was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Boglarka Illes.

During the consultations, discussions were held on the current state and development prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres, as well as strategic energy and transport projects implemented by Azerbaijan.

The prospects for further expansion of the existing fruitful cooperation within international organizations were also touched upon. In this context, Hungary was thanked for hosting the informal summit of the OTS in Budapest on May 21 of this year at a high level, and the importance of the discussions and decisions taken at the 12th summit of the OTS held in Gabala on October 7 was emphasized.

During the consultations, the results of the Summit held between the leaders of Azerbaijan, the United States, and Armenia in Washington on August 8 of this year were appreciated, and the prospects for establishing peace in the region and developing regional cooperation were informed to the other side.

Gratitude was expressed for the friendly support provided by Hungary for the demining of Azerbaijan's liberated territories, as well as for the restoration and reconstruction work.

The meeting exchanged views on other global, regional, and bilateral issues of mutual interest.

Within the framework of the visit, F. Rzayev also held working meetings with a number of other Hungarian officials, as well as participated in roundtable discussions with representatives of leading research centers.
