On April 29, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia Juana Castro Santamaria, MFA told APA.
The current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia were discussed during the meeting.
The sides exchanged views on expanding political dialogue, promoting economic and trade relations, as well as on several areas of mutual interest, including tourism, visa liberalization, education, culture, humanitarian cooperation, student exchange, interparliamentary relations, and other cooperation opportunities. The growing interest in the Spanish language in Azerbaijan and the participation of citizens in programs organized in this field were welcomed.
Azerbaijan’s hosting of COP29, its chairmanship in several international platforms, and its leadership in the region were also appreciated.
The parties also discussed cooperation within multilateral platforms, including strengthening mutual support in international organizations.
Considering that both countries suffer from landmines, the importance of cooperation in the field of demining was emphasized.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
On the same day, the next round of political consultations between Azerbaijan and Colombia was held. The consultations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Colombia Juana Castro Santamaria.
