Azerbaijan and Armenia have agreed to base their delimitation process on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, it was agreed at the eighth meeting of the State Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia and the Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border and Border Security between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan that was held on the border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan, APA reports.

Additionally, they have agreed to incorporate this same foundational principle into the draft Agreement (if in the future a different decision is made regarding the peace and establishment of interstate relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, then the relevant clause of the Agreement will be aligned with the principles established in that Agreement).
