Azerbaijan has allocated $2 million to support the activities of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Secretariat, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov at the first meeting of the OTS heads of government and their deputies in Bishkek, APA reports.

He emphasized that today’s discussions on the agenda require both practical and flexible approaches: “It is well known that OTS summits are held both in formal and informal formats throughout the year. Every high-level meeting and every decision adopted contributes to strengthening our organization, enhancing its influence, increasing its reputation, and promoting institutional development. Oversight of the implementation of these decisions, monitoring, and mutual consultation mechanisms will further increase our organization’s effectiveness. We believe that enhancing the efficiency of existing structures and strengthening institutional development will make our organization’s work more transparent, flexible, and results-oriented.

The decisions adopted at the informal summit of the OTS Council of Heads of State held in Budapest in May 2025 regarding increasing the Secretariat’s staff and budget serve the institutional strengthening of our organization. At the informal OTS summit of heads of state held in Shusha on July 6 last year, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan stated that the organization’s current budget and structure are insufficient to realize our common goals. Our country has transferred $2 million to support the Secretariat’s activities. I am confident that this support will make a positive contribution to the work of our organization.”

Prime Minister Asadov further stressed: “One of our main goals is to bring our brotherly countries closer through stronger economic and trade ties. Our joint projects, transport and logistics initiatives, energy and industrial cooperation, as well as humanitarian and cultural projects, will make our organization even stronger in the future.”
