"We regret that France is participating in Armenia's armament program in violation of international law," Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev told journalists, APA reports.
He noted that there are lethal weapons provided to Armenia by France: “One of the main forces behind the armament of Armenia is France. Armenia is an occupying and aggressive state. In this regard, its armament is an absolutely responsible issue. The weapons are not provided only by France."
The President's Assistant emphasized that there should be serious restrictions on Armenia's military construction policy and that the countries providing attack-oriented weapons to Armenia should be held accountable for this. He noted that this issue is based on international practice: "In international relations, occupying and aggressive states are primarily subject to certain restrictions in terms of military construction and military planning, as well as the process of army building. This has been evident in the restrictions imposed on Iraq after World War II, particularly after the war between Iraq and Kuwait. We also believe that there should be serious restrictions on Armenia's military construction policy and that the responsibility of countries supplying attack-oriented weapons to Armenia should be considered."
