The Armenian side was forced to withdraw its position by signing a joint application letter to the OSCE for the closure of the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures before signing the peace agreement in Washington,  APA reports citing a diplomatic source.

The submission of the joint application letter to the OSCE for the closure of the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures should be considered an important step towards removing one of the most serious obstacles in the peace and normalization process, which has been continuously on Azerbaijan’s agenda since 2020. Thus, with this application, the Armenian side also accepted the fact that the Minsk Group and its related structures are inadequate and unnecessary under the current circumstances.

As is known, the Armenian side conditioned the abolition of the Minsk Group on the signing of a bilateral agreement (peace agreement). Nevertheless, the Armenian side was forced to withdraw its position by signing the aforementioned joint application without signing the peace agreement in Washington. As a result, within the framework of the visit of the President of Azerbaijan to the United States, the historic results achieved as part of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process became remarkable in terms of advancing the peace agenda authored by Azerbaijan. The reality created in the region with the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty was confirmed at the highest level in the world’s number one political capital.
