Work on the Middle Corridor continues in full with the support of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and the corridor should be considered a strategic package, former Deputy Prime Minister of Romania Ana Birchall said during a panel discussion on the Middle Corridor held within the framework of the 13th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
She noted that the results of the Middle Corridor will become evident in the near future and that it will eventually turn into a global gateway.
“In the future, the Middle Corridor will serve Europe’s interests. The interests of participating countries along the corridor are taken into account and met. The Middle Corridor is one of the priority directions for the countries of the region and is of great importance in terms of transportation. The existence of alternative corridors also serves the interests of the region.
Recently, the volume of transportation has increased by 150%. Previously, it took 45 days to deliver cargo from Asia to Europe, while now this period has decreased to approximately 20 days,” she said.
