Ambassador: EU is proud to be Azerbaijan’s largest trading partner

The opening ceremony of the European Union's "EuroVillage 2026" event has been held in Ganja, APA's local bureau reports.

The opening ceremony took place at the "EuroVillage" in Heydar Aliyev Square in the city.

It was noted that the "EuroVillage 2026" event, held under the theme of 30 years of partnership with Azerbaijan, was organized by the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan in cooperation with the embassies of EU member states and with the support of the Ganja City Executive Authority.

Representatives from Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden also attended the event.

Guests had the opportunity to learn more about the EU by visiting the tents of EU member states. Activity programs for all age groups were presented.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Marijana Kujundžić stated that EuroVillage offers an invaluable opportunity for the Azerbaijani public to discover the EU: "This is a window to Europe. This year, we are proud to celebrate 30 years of partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan. Since 1996, we have achieved a great deal: hundreds of projects beneficial to the people of Azerbaijan have been implemented in agriculture, business development, healthcare, education, environment and many other fields. The European Union is proud to be Azerbaijan’s largest trading partner and investor. We remain committed to further strengthening our partnership."

As part of the event, a tree-planting campaign was held in Heydar Aliyev Park with the participation of the Head of the Ganja City Executive Authority and ambassadors.

Note that this is the second EuroVillage event held in Ganja. The first EuroVillage was organized in 2016 on the occasion of Ganja being declared the European Youth Capital.
