"The resolution on the celebration of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations at the UN was proposed at the initiative of China. It was supported by 83 countries, including Azerbaijan," said the Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, during a briefing, APA reports.
She also noted that during her short stay in Azerbaijan, efficient communication has been established between the Embassy and media representatives.
The diplomat especially emphasized that the relationship between the two countries has been widely covered in the Azerbaijani press and television channels:
"During my time here, I had the opportunity to establish friendly relations with some journalists. Over the past two months I have been here, I have watched many of your reports on China-Azerbaijan relations. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your attention to these relations. Today, we have gathered here to celebrate the Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. The Day for Dialogue among Civilizations is held in accordance with the resolution adopted last year at the UN at China’s initiative. That resolution was supported by almost all UN member states. A total of 83 countries, including Azerbaijan, voted in favor of it."
