Ambassador: Azerbaijan provided major support in evacuation of more than 600 Chinese citizens from Iran

Azerbaijan has provided significant support to Chinese citizens evacuated from Iran, said China’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, during a briefing held at the embassy, APA reports.

The ambassador said that after the US and Israel carried out military strikes on Iran, extensive evacuation measures were implemented to safely remove Chinese citizens from the country.

“Following the military strikes, the Azerbaijani government actively assisted in the evacuation of Chinese citizens from Iran and supported the successful passage of more than 600 Chinese citizens through the Astara state border checkpoint,” the ambassador emphasized.

Lu Mei noted that this step is another example of the high level of political mutual trust between China and Azerbaijan.

“On this occasion, I express my deep gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan for the support and assistance provided,” the diplomat added.
