Azerbaijan and China are cooperating on a number of projects in the field of solar and wind energy, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said during an event marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, APA reports.
The Ambassador said that energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and China is one of the important areas of bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to the Ambassador, it is necessary to jointly uphold and practice true multilateralism through mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as safeguard common interests.
Lu Mei noted that China supports multilateral cooperation. She said that President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping has put forward the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, as well as four global initiatives in the areas of development, security, civilization, and governance.
The Ambassador also touched upon the work carried out within the framework of the Global Development Initiative (GDI). According to her, the initiative is marking its fifth anniversary, and more than USD 23 billion has been mobilized within this framework, while more than 2,000 cooperation projects have been implemented in over 70 countries. As a result, 40 million people worldwide have benefited from the initiative.
Lu Mei also said that last year, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping put forward the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) and identified nine key priorities for improving global governance.
The Ambassador also spoke about China’s initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence governance. She noted that China took the lead in proposing the Global AI Governance Initiative.
According to Lu Mei, the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) was established in Shanghai in July this year at China’s initiative. She said that it is the first international organization for artificial intelligence governance.
