Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, has sent a letter of condolences to Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhorotsku of the Georgian Orthodox Church over the passing of Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II, the CMO told APA.
Pashazade expressed his condolences to the Georgian people and the Georgian Orthodox Church on behalf of the Caucasus Muslims Office, the Supreme Religious Council of the Peoples of the Caucasus, and all believers of the Caucasus.
It was noted that His Holiness Ilia II, who made significant practical efforts to deepen the traditional friendship and spiritual ties between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as to promote an atmosphere of peace and mutual understanding in the region, was a highly valued religious figure for all believers of the Caucasus and a religious leader who set an example with his peace-loving activities.
“May the soul of His Holiness Ilia II rest in peace, and may his abode be paradise,” the letter said.
