Cooperation with the Central Asian countries should continue not in the “5+1” format, but in the “6” format, the Chairman of the Board of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) Farid Shafiyev said at a briefing held on the occasion of the groundbreaking ceremony for the mosque in the city of Fuzuli, which was gifted to the people of Azerbaijan by Turkmenistan, APA reports.

Shafiyev noted that it is time for Azerbaijan to continue its cooperation with the Central Asian countries not in the “5+1” format, but in the “6” format.

Expressing hope that Turkmenistan will one day become a member of the Organization of Turkic States, the speaker emphasized that the country’s neutrality status will not hinder the development of cooperation within international platforms.

“I hope that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan will also develop within international platforms,” Shafiyev said.
