Since the first day of the military escalation, our Embassies and Consulates General in the region have been continuing their activities in an enhanced mode, and measures are being taken to provide appropriate assistance to our citizens, Aykhan Hajizada, Head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said while answering a question from the local press regarding the evacuation of our citizens in the Middle East region, APA reports.
According to him, so far, with the exception of one person, no one has been injured among our citizens. As for the evacuation of our citizens, today, 193 Azerbaijani citizens, 9 Azerbaijanis who are citizens of Georgia, and 5 Azerbaijanis who are citizens of Russia were evacuated to our country from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, by a special flight of Azerbaijan Airlines.
In addition, the return of our citizens residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to our country by regular flights is carried out by the relevant airlines of the UAE. Yesterday, a total of 257 Azerbaijani citizens returned to our country. Two regular flights are planned from Dubai today, March 1 and 5.
In addition, work is underway to evacuate 200 of our citizens currently in Qatar by a special flight. It should be noted that since Qatari airspace is closed, the evacuation of our citizens from Saudi Arabia is planned.
In addition, in accordance with the travel warning shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Azerbaijani and Turkish land borders are used for the exit of Azerbaijani citizens from Iran, depending on the region of their location. So far, 260 of our citizens have crossed the Azerbaijani border.
Our citizens currently in the region are asked to carefully monitor the security situation, follow the instructions and recommendations of local authorities, stay away from mass gatherings, and strengthen personal security measures.
