South African philanthropist receives prestigious international award for contribution to social and humanitarian development

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA. The South African philanthropist Ivor Ichikowitz has received the prestigious Prix de la Fondation award from the Crans Montana Forum for his contribution to social and humanitarian development in Africa. Mr.Ichikowitz is the first South African to receive this award in its 23-year history.

The Crans Montana Forum is a Swiss international organisation which brings
together global political and business leaders in order to foster dialogue and promote international cooperation.

The award was presented to Mr Ichikowitz by Duke Henry of Luxembourg during a ceremony held at the 23-rd Annual Session of the Crans Montana Forum held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku in the presence of several heads of state, international government representatives and business personalities.

The Forum was attended by the President of Azerbaijan, the former President of Croatia, the Crown Prince of Fujaira, the President of Montenegro, the President of Macedonia and the President of Georgia.

Previous winners of the award include Mrs Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey, Raila Omolo Odinga, Prime Minister of Kenya, Benazir Bhutto, Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian National Authority.

Through the Ichikowitz Family Foundation, Ivor is committed to the growth and development of the African Continent, the building of a democratic society and the development of its people.
