Chelsea lost to Brentford in their first match since Bowley's departure

Brentford defeated Chelsea 3-0 at home in the fifth round of the English Premier League. The match took place in London, APA reports.

The winning team's goals were scored by Jadon Anthony (61st minute), Igor Thiago (83) and Fabio Carvalho (90+5).

Chelsea played their first match since American businessman Todd Bowley stepped down as chairman of the club's board. On September 17, Chelsea's press office announced that Bowley would sell his stake to Clearlake, which would take full control of the club. On May 28, 2022, Chelsea was acquired by the BlueCo consortium, co-founded by Bowley. Since then, Chelsea has won two trophies: the 2025 Conference League and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Brentford's victory lifted them to third place in the league table with nine points. Chelsea are seventh with seven points. Brentford will play Aston Villa away on October 10th, while Chelsea will host Bournemouth on the same day.
