Azerbaijan plans nearly AZN 9 billion for defense and national security in 2026 budget

Nearly 9 billion manats will be allocated for defense and national security expenditures in 2026, APA reports, citing the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026.”

According to the draft, 8,714,781,860 manats are planned to be allocated for defense and security expenses. Of this amount, 3,030,735,789 manats will be allocated to defense forces, 480,623,148 manats to national security, 541,633,496 manats to border services, 5,091,411 manats to applied research in the field of defense and national security, and 4,656,698,016 manats to other activities related to defense and national security.

Out of the 4,656,698,016 manats allocated for other activities in the defense and national security sector, 4,500,000,000 manats will be directed to expenditures for special defense-purpose projects and measures.
