Last year, 14.8 million tons of transit cargo were transported in Azerbaijan, Rahman Humbatov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport said at a press conference on "Measures implemented in the field of transport in 2024 and plans for 2025", APA-Economics reports.
He said that the volume of transit cargo transported by rail reached a record high, reaching 7.3 million tons: "Passenger transportation by air increased by 31% compared to the previous year and reached a record high. That is, 7.5 million passengers were served. Passenger transportation by metro increased to the highest level after the pandemic, namely 30 million people. The number of passengers transported by buses increased by 20% annually, reaching 148 million people."
