US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Andrew Loomis is on a visit to Georgia, APA's local bureau reports.
He held a meeting with Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani.
The meeting focused on existing defense cooperation between Georgia and the United States and its future prospects.
The sides also reviewed the security situation and challenges in the region, the long-standing joint contributions of Georgian and American military personnel to international missions, and joint military exercises.
During his visit to Georgia, Andrew Loomis also met with First Deputy Minister of Defense Paata Patiashvili and Deputy Commander of the Defense Forces, Major General Irakli Chichinadze.
