British intelligence has investigated Russia’s campaign of abducting and forcibly relocating Ukrainian children, APA reports.
According to the findings of the UK intelligence investigation, Russia immediately calls the abducted children from occupied Ukrainian territories into its army once they reach the age of 18.
Information indicates that so far more than 19,500 Ukrainian children have been forcibly relocated either to Russian territory or to Crimea, and according to some open sources, this number could reach up to 35,000.
Based on the UK intelligence assessment, 6,000 Ukrainian children have been placed in “re-education” camps and are sent to military training centers when they reach adulthood.
UK intelligence notes that Russia’s top leadership views the abducted Ukrainian children as a potential resource for both the current and future military.
It should be noted that on September 3, the UK government imposed sanctions on individuals involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children, coinciding with the announcement of this investigation.
