Starting today, stricter measures have been introduced in Georgia against foreign nationals who violate stay regulations, APA’s local bureau reports.

Foreign nationals found violating these rules will be fined between 1,000 and 3,000 lari, and their entry into Georgia will be banned for a certain period.

- For violations of up to three months, a fine of 1,000 lari and a six-month entry ban will apply.

- For violations between three months and one year, a fine of 2,000 lari and a two-year entry ban will be imposed.

- For violations exceeding one year, foreigners will be fined 3,000 lari and barred from entering the country for three years.

Foreign nationals who violate transit rules will face a fine of 500 lari.

The new regulations are aimed at strengthening control over illegal migration and preventing abuse of asylum procedures.

Previously, the law did not provide for the expulsion of foreign nationals, and fines ranged from 180 to 360 lari.
