NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that the North Atlantic Alliance has "absolutely no plans" to participate in the US and Israeli military operation against Iran, APA reports.

"NATO has absolutely no plans to get involved in this conflict, no plans to become a party to it. Individual allies in the alliance are doing everything possible to support the Americans in their joint actions against Israel. As for the stockpiles of air defense systems, I can assure you: they are significant. They will not be depleted so quickly, and at the same time, we must work together to ensure that the defense industry develops even faster – as Rheinmetall in Germany and many other defense companies in Europe and the United States are doing," Rutte said in an interview with the ARD television channel .

He emphasized that "absolutely no one believes NATO will become involved in the conflict." "We're talking about Iran, the Persian Gulf region—all of this is outside NATO territory. As for NATO territory itself, we remain vigilant and ensure its reliable defense," the alliance's Secretary General asserted. He also stated that he doesn't believe the United States underestimated the situation. Rutte described the actions of the United States, along with Israel, as "very important, as they limit Iran's ability to acquire nuclear weapons."
