Sweden’s opposition left-wing bloc is leading the country’s parliamentary elections with 49.4% of the vote, according to preliminary results from the Swedish Election Authority, APA reports.
The ruling right-wing bloc has received 49.1% of the vote.
The results were announced after ballots had been counted at nearly 6,100 polling stations. Voter turnout stood at 80.4%.
The centre-left bloc comprises the Social Democratic Party, the Left Party, the Centre Party and the Greens.
The right-wing bloc consists of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s Moderate Party, the Christian Democrats, the Liberals and the Sweden Democrats, which support the government.
The results remain preliminary, and vote counting is continuing.
