Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and informed that one of the embassy staff members has been declared persona non grata and must leave the country, according to a statement in the Moldovan foreign ministry’s Telegram channel, APA reports.
«A protest was expressed to the diplomat in connection with the organization of the Russian presidential elections in the territory of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova against the position of the Moldovan authorities», - the statement said. In February, the Russian embassy reported that Moldovan authorities had only allowed the opening of one polling station for the Russian presidential elections — in the diplomatic mission. Chisinau declared «the unacceptability of opening polling stations» in the Transnistrian region not under the control of constitutional authorities.
