Lithuania and U.S.-based Mach Industries have signed a declaration of intent on establishing joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Lithuania, the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence said, APA reports.
The document envisages establishing a Mach Industries branch in Lithuania to develop advanced defence systems in the UAV sector.
According to the Lithuanian Defence Ministry, the project could enable the country to become an important part of the U.S. defence technology production and military supply chain in Europe.
Vilnius has purchased approximately EUR 2 billion worth of weapons and military equipment from the United States over the past three years, the ministry said.
