Georgia’s CEC assures electronic voting safe, no risk of cyber interference in municipal elections

“There is no risk of cyber interference because the devices used for electronic voting are not connected to the internet," said the Chairman of Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC), Giorgi Kalandarishvili, during a briefing, APA’s local bureau reports.

He noted that the likelihood of any malfunction in the equipment is minimal.

“But of course, such situations are taken into account and insured against. The main thing is that the voting process will not be stopped under any circumstances,” the CEC chairman said.

Note that tomorrow, municipal elections will be held in Georgia. A total of 3,061 polling stations have been set up across the country, of which 2,284 will use electronic voting, while 777 will follow the traditional method. The total number of registered voters is 3,513,818. Out of these, 3,130,348 people will cast their votes using electronic technologies.
