European forces proposed to be deployed in Ukraine as peacekeepers should be located not on the contact line, but beyond it, France is making this proposal, APA reports citing FT.
Representatives of Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark, as well as the United Kingdom, are participating in an informal meeting on Ukraine organized at the initiative of Paris. Along with the delegates of these countries, the presidents of the European Commission and the European Council, as well as the NATO Secretary General, have arrived in the French capital for the meeting. They are expected to discuss the possibilities for the participation of European states in the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, including the prospects for the deployment of contingents of France, Great Britain and Poland on its territory.
"This is not just about the front line in Ukraine," British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told reporters before arriving for the meeting. "This is the front line of Europe and the United Kingdom. This is about our national security and I believe we need to do more."
