Defense ministers of European Union countries have failed to reach an agreement on providing Ukraine with Patriot missiles remaining in the stockpiles of individual member states on the condition that they are replenished through future supplies, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said at a press conference following a meeting of EU defense ministers, APA reports.
“No new decisions were made today regarding the provision of missiles,” Kallas said.
According to her, as a last resort, the possibility is currently being considered for individual EU countries to provide Ukraine with missiles remaining in their stockpiles and subsequently replenish those stocks with new supplies financed through the EU’s EUR 90 billion military financing fund for Ukraine.
It should be noted that EUR 60 billion of the EU’s EUR 90 billion support loan for Ukraine is intended for defense purposes. The EU has previously also allocated funding for the purchase of PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.
